A One-stop AI-powered Solution for Personalized Cantonese Learning and 1-to-N Immersive Oral Training Integrated Systems
The presentation is about an innovative initiative aimed at making Cantonese learning more accessible and effective for diverse learners in Hong Kong, the Greater Bay Area and worldwide. Integrating advanced AI technologies with user-friendly digital platforms, the project supports non-local and local students, professionals, and residents in developing Cantonese skills for academic, social, and professional success. The project comprises two main components: iCanLearn, an AI-driven self-learning platform tailored for native Putonghua speakers and other learners, offers interactive lessons on pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar, with instant feedback and a smart chatbot for real-life conversational practice. CanNTalk, the second component, is an AI-powered oral training platform that simulates group discussions with multiple AI avatars, reflecting varied personalities and communication styles to mimic authentic social and workplace scenarios. This immersive approach builds learners’ confidence and fluency in spoken Cantonese. It is expected that these platforms form a “learn-and-train” ecosystem, enabling seamless transitions between learning and practice, while providing teachers with insights for personalized support. The flexible design allows use in universities, corporate training, and by the general public, amplifying its positive impact across the community.
